The La Union Standard Academy:
Brief History and Development

After a year, the school was at a verge of closing down due to some unprecedented issues, however, these were resolved by the Board under the able leadership of the late Engr. Remedio L. Mangaser.

A change in leadership was instituted in June, 1997 when Engr. Mangaser highly recommended Mr. Jose M. Oviedo Jr. (alumnus, 1957) to take over the reigns of administration of the Board. The first year of the new leadership posted a transition that was full of challenges. There was instability not only in the performance of functions but much more so in its resources - physical, human, and financial resources. The situation, however did not curtail the spirit of service of the new administration to GO ON!

At the onset of fiscal year of 1998, there were manifolds of development in the school. Some of these were the buying-out of procurement of the lot near the school where it now stands. The lot is now the property of the school. Additional classrooms were constructed; the library was improved in its holdings and properties; the use of computers in instructions and more school operations. Innovations were also tried and tested like leadership-faculty trainings through the principal position; organizations of school associations like the PTCA; Committee chairmanship in the Board of Directors where members were assigned chairs on Administrative Affairs, Academic Affairs, Ways and Means among others.
